| Crosses go
THE crosses from a Tuart Hill church built in 1914 will be removed as the building makes a final transition to become a community centre. The old church, which was converted into St Kieran's Community Centre in 1988, is being refurbished. St Kieran's parish priest Father Michael Gatt said the church had been fundraising since 2001 and had been given a grant from Lotterywest for one third of the cost of the refurbishment. The building will get a new roof, external brick wall repairs, soak wells and internal improvements. "It can be truly said that our Community Centre has been built and re-built, converted and refurbished by the community for the community", Fr Gatt said. "It is hoped that the refurbishment will be completed by mid-November and we shall have an official opening before Christmas." |

I have to say that I have a lot to explain to you in the coming Sundays about the refurbishing of the Parish Centre. But for today I just like to quote to you some excerpts from the letter I have received from Lotterywest last Friday, dated 12 May 2004. First of all I would like to commend Lotterywest for their accountability, credibility, understanding and generous support.
