Community Service
Awards on again

NOMINATIONS are now open for the City of Stirling's 15th annual Community Service Awards, acknowledging outstanding voluntary service to the community by individual people.

The awards cover five categories:
- Community Service, for people involved in activities with St John's Ambulance, Red Cross, State Emergency Service, surf life saving clubs and so on.
- Youth, for those working with young people in organisations such as scouts and girl guides, Girls' and Boys' Brigades and other youth groups.
- Senior Citizens, for people working with the over 55s in activities such as meals on wheels and pensioner groups.
- Sport and Recreation, for people who work with sports clubs and other recreational organisations.
- Young Citizens, for people 25 and under involved in educational institutions and church groups.

Four types of awards are given: the Civil Service Medallion is the highest accolade with some past recipients, recording more than 20 years' exemplary service in their field.

The second highest award is the Gold Certificate of Service, where service quality and years of service are taken into account, while the Silver Certificate of Service acknowledges effort and contribution above and beyond the normal call of public participation in community affairs.

The Bronze Certificate of Service is only awarded in the young citizen category and recognises ongoing commitment to community service.

Nominees must be either a person, community organisation or a group or person contributing to a community organisation or group, making a significant contribution to the benefit of Stirling residents.

Nominations close at 4pm on March 7. Call the City's Customer Service Centre on 9345 8555 for more details.
